SLANGPHABET

Inspired by growing up in South London, I made Slangphabet to bridge the gap in language and culture between an older generation and younger generation in 2018.

It was a passion project and over 700 copies have been sold independently since self publishing and selling across slangphabet.bigcartel.com , at market stalls and independent book shops.

Colorful comic-style book titled 'Slanghabet' by Jada Bruney, featuring a girl in a red outfit sitting on the grass and a person in a red hoodie in an urban setting with a high-rise building.

A flip through of the 114 page book.

A person sitting outdoors on grass with small white flowers, reading a red book about roadmanism. The person is wearing black shoes, gray socks, a red skirt, and has long, dark curly hair.

A spread on “Roadmanism”.

White handwritten notes on a black background about engaging youth in language connection, unfamiliar language barriers, and the difference between tangible and digital language resources.

Initial ideation.
